The one restaurant not to miss in London

Paris, the food capital of Europe? Bah! Right now, London is the only place in Europe that features a Chinese restaurant with a Michelin star. Try Hakkasan, a place that has managed to stay on top of the London restaurant scene for a good 10 years now. There is no other place in London that I have eaten at more often, simply because everything there is just right – the food, the drinks, the décor, the service, the wine list. Try the Chilean seabass in Champagne sauce, and have the delicious dim sum for starters. If you can afford it waist-wise, indulge in the Hakka pork stew that comes in a burning hot clay pot with a dozen whole garlic cloves. The cocktails are consistently outstanding, and on the wine list you can find unusual gems such as an award-winning sparkling wine from West Sussex. By the way, Hakkasan has in the meantime been bought by investors and it’s on course to become a global brand. Has anyone got any experience with the new Hakkasan outlet in Miami? Please email me if you do. I am simply curious how one of my favourite eateries is faring abroad. Hakkasan is a quick walk from Tottenham Court Road tube station, tucked away in a side street and not visible from the outside (the restaurant itself is downstairs). Don’t forget to bring a credit card!
